The Carolina Panthers have made two more hires.

On Thursday, Carolina announced it was hiring former Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash to coach the defensive line. Wash worked with running backs coach Duce Staley in Detroit and has spent time with Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll during his 16-year NFL coaching career.

Panthers senior defensive coordinator Dom Capers and Wash coached together in Jacksonville, as well. Wash joins Frank Reich’s staff under defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

The team also announced Thursday it has hired Brian Decker to serve as vice president of development. His role will be wide-ranging and include developing players and coaches within the organization.

Decker worked under Reich for five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

Hailing from Minnesota, Ellis L. Williams joined the Observer in October 2021 to cover the Carolina Panthers. Prior, he spent two years reporting on the Browns for Cleveland.com/the Plain Dealer. Having escaped cold winters, he’s thrilled to consume football, hoops, music and movies within the Queen City.
