How to watch, stream the NCHSAA Board of Directors meeting

The N.C. High School Board of Directors will begin its annual meeting Wednesday morning at 8:30. The annual meeting concludes Thursday.

The public can listen to an audio stream of the meeting.

Topics on the agenda to be discussed include:

The board’s policy committee will discuss Name, Image and Likeness, gender identity policy and sportsmanship concerns. NC high school athletes currently are not allowed to profit from NIL, though at least 18 states allow it, according to the National Federation of High Schools.

The review and officiating committee will review a special report from an ad-hoc committe on the state of officiating in the state. Referees are demanding better treatment and a pay increase.

The Sports Committee will review the basketball shot clock, how athletes qualify for tennis — and a potential increase in the number of teams in the playoffs — and volleyball issues and concerns. The state’s basketball coaches association has made a proposal to try a shot clock for three years.

Also, 19 schools, including Charlotte’s Harding High, will make realignment appeals to be placed in a new classification.
